Adventure

Keswick is the Adventure Capital of England. The area is a wonderful place to relax and just take in the scenery, but if you want to add some spice to your holiday we can recommend the following. At least one member of our family has tried each of these. If you would like us to help you book them or arrange a series over a few days just let us know. We don’t add any charges.

Gyrocopter Flights. Flights are arranged through www.chrisjonesgyroplanes.co.uk and take off from an airstrip near Wigton. Imagine a flying motorbike and you almost have the idea! Gyrocopter   Trail Running. A slightly easier task compared with Fell Running. Escorted trail runs are offered by Paul (with 24 hours notice) and are a high-speed method of sightseeing. Be prepared to get very dirty shoes. This link is for competition www.lakelandtrails.org Trail running
Canoeing on Derwentwater. Various locations around the lake offer canoes including www.derwentwatermarina.co.uk and www.plattyplus.co.uk Canoeing   Guided Walks. Keswick Rambles provide company and accurate navigation though a range of routes. These are particularly useful for women that like the hills but would rather go in a group. www.keswickrambles.org.uk Walking
Mountain Biking. These can be hired from several places in Keswick and up at Whinlatter Visitor centre. The Altura and Quercus Trails at Whinlatter are free to ride, have no walkers sharing the routes, are one way and are a fabulous trial of your fitness and technique. www.whinlatterbikes.com Mountain biking   Paragliding. Quite simply you jump off a cliff and hang in the air. Simple really. Best to do it with someone who knows the ropes. www.escapexc.com/ Paragliding
